Black Pepper & Rosemary Bread Rolls

Sometimes, you just want some fresh fluffy bread...who am I kidding, it's not a 'sometime' thing, it's a 'all the time' thing. Shop bought bread can be sufficient enough occasionally, but when you take that first bit of a bread that's homemade, it's just a whole lot better! Not to mention the wonderful smell that fills the home when it's baking.

Firstly, I would just like to admit my absence over the past month, I was simply enjoying my time at home with my family over Christmas and new year. But in addition, I had finals right after Christmas break so studying had to be squeezed in here and there...Excuses aside, I'm back and hopefully with the idea of being more prepared and scheduled in mind.

Back to bread! I use to make bread here and there when I was younger, but then the other week I decided to have another go as a nice little study break and I think bread making may become a weekly thing for me from now on... For some reason I had the idea that making bread was hard, but I have definitely proved myself wrong, I mean these rolls have the extra step of a brief steam and they are still so easy! The kneading process? Well that's a doddle when you get use to it and is quite therapeutic (if you remember to wear short sleeves so you aren't constantly needing to pull them back up with floury hands).

These rolls are lightly flavoured, but are wonderful all the same and make the perfect accompaniment to a warming bowl of soup!

  • 1/2 tsp, sugar
  • 1/3 tsp, salt
  • 1tsp, dried rosemary

Divide the dough into 4 and shape into 2 inch thick circles. Place the dough into the simmering water, cook for 2 minutes then flip for a remaining 2 mins. 7. Place dough onto the tray and sprinkle with black pepper and rosemary then place in the oven for 20 minutes.
